  • Dr. Gailmard built one of the largest and most successful optometric practices in America after opening cold.  He is CEO of Gailmard Eye Center, in partnerhsip with his wife, Susan Gailmard, O.D.      GEC is a group practice in Munster, Indiana with five optometrists and 26 staff members operating within a 10,000 square foot professional building.
  • As an optometrist in active clinical practice, Dr. Gailmard currently puts his management principles to work in the real world.
  • Visiting Lecturer, University of California at Berkeley, School of Optometry.  Eye Care Business and Professional Management course.
  • Served on the faculty at Illinois College of Optometry for 20 years, teaching the Practice Management lecture course.
  • Received numerous awards at ICO, including Faculty of the Year three times, the Presidential Medal of Honor, and the Alumni Professional Achievement Award.
  • Received MBA degree, with distinction, from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago.
  • Benedict Professor of Practice Management, University of Houston College of Optometry.
  • Created Practice Management University for the AOA and served as Chairman for four years.  This award-winning conference program presented hundreds of management seminars across the United States.
  • Serves as an advisor for the eye care industry, including companies such as CibaVision, Essilor, Topcon, Eyefinity/OfficeMate, Zeiss-Meditec, Alcon and The Hayes Center for Practice Excellence at Southern College of Optometry.
  • Frequent lecturer on practice management topics at major eye care conventions.
  • Former Chief Optometric Editor for Optometric Management magazine.
  • A prolific author and editor for several eye care journals, including Review of Optometry, New O.D., Contact Lens Spectrum and Optometry: Journal of the AOA.
  • Faculty member for the Management and Business Academy, an educational conference series sponsored by Ciba Vision and Essilor.
  • Creator and author of the Management Tip of the Week, an e-newsletter published by Wolters Kluwer VisionCare Group and distributed to over 15,000 eye care professionals every week.  Neil started the weekly tip series in 2002.
  • Editor and Moderator of New OD on Facebook, a page for students and recent graduates sponsored by Essilor and Transitions.
